Most businesses want their businesses to dominate Google but most businesses just get their business a website and hope they start ranking for terms related to their business.

Which is why most business never sees a return on their investment by having their website online which is they don’t end up seeing the value of being online.

Our long term Google strategy consists of using AdWords and Search Engine Optimization.

Why you should use Google Advertising:

When you’ve launched a new website you not going to rank for your search terms immediately, which where advertising on Google will help your business with being found online from day one of being online.

It allows you to show up at the top of Google search results for the terms related to your business, this is what we would recommend for every business in the short term but in the long term, we would want to bring our ad spend down.

Google Advertising in the long-term:

In the long-term, we going to have improved our search engine rankings and will hopefully be on the first page for some of our search terms, if your website is on the first page for a term.

Then we would advise you to stop spending money on that term by removing that term from your advertising campaign, which will result in bringing our monthly ad spend down quite a bit.

In the long term, Google Ads will continue to apart of our strategy but it will change by the fact that we would have built some brand on Google with ranking or would probably start targeting searches for our competition.

In the long-term SEO is the main focus:

By optimizing your site for search engines by adding title, meta description, alt tag and structuring our content properly, will start to see our rankings improve on search engines.

Once you gained some rankings for your website, we would stop spending money on ad

Onsite SEO:

When doing SEO you should start by optimizing your website so that it can meet some of Google on-site ranking factors.

such as adding h1, h2, h3 tags for your different headings, you should use the h1 element for the first heading on your page and h2 for all your sub-heading after that.

Then make sure that you have optimized your images for the web so that they load quicker on your website, your hero images should not be bigger than 200kb and your other images should be smaller and don’t forget to add alt text to your images.

Onsite SEO also looks at how long your site takes to load, so you should definitely have a caching plugin installed, if you are using WordPress I would recommend using WP Rocket for speeding up your site.

You also need to have an SEO plugin installed so you can change the page title and meta description to something more relevant to your website, we still believe in using Yoast SEO Plugin.

Building up organic links:

Next thing you are going to need to do is build a few link that link back to your website, have links pointing to your website is like having someone voting for you.

Some of the easiest way to build links is to look up free industry related directory sites, where you can submit your business.

Add a social sharing element to your website, so people can share content that is on your website.

If your are a web designer you could add a credit link at the bottom of clients website, which has been a common practice for ages, it has been a useful for us in the past.

Create evergreen content:

Create content that will be evergreen by writing useful articles such as how to, ect. there a plenty of different things you can write about, if you create content Google will eventually rank your website for the keywords in your content.

That how we believe in growing a business with Google in the long term, in the long term we don’t want to be spending countless money on running ads when we could be ranking for the keywords that we are paying for.

We hope you enjoyed this article, if you feel we missed something or have a tip share it with us in the comments.
